Peachfest Flowshow!

Here is a recent write up/video that a local journalist did on the Flowshow that I was a part of in Penticton this past month. I did not know at the time of the interview that he was going to be using it in a video but it turned out ok… just wish i had not been rocking the Eamonn Duignan style shirt…HAHA! (if you know Eamonn you will understand)

need a little help from… YOU!

So a few weeks back I shot a commercial for an energy drink company. It was a contest and the winners get a cash prize! Please click here and vote 5 stars on the bike race video to help me make some cash so I can keep riding as much as I can and working as little as I can!

Thanks,
Baker

And like that its gone….

So the final weekend of the Whistler Bike park has become my way of celebrating Thanksgiving. It makes sense to me to do this as I am so “thankful” for both my bikes and the bike park! the closing weekend of the 2010 season was much like the past few, wet cold and slippery! I love fall riding! This year I spent 1 of the final 3 days taking photos with CCN’s own Matt Mallory and good buddy/teammate/recent MTB hall of fame inductee Brett Tippie. We covered the mountain top to bottom and took over 500 shots! Matt has put some of these shots into a slideshow along with shots from a few other riders he worked with over the weekend. So a big thanks to Matt for doing this and to Wendy the awesome clothing designer at Raceface for keeping me dry and warm in the new Fall/Winter 2010 rain gear!

GoPro Whistler!

Here’s a bunch of links to the Whistler Bike Park trails that I filmed for Ken over at Camp of Champions.  It was a big day of riding, lots of laps! In fact, Tippie and I set a record for the most trails shot in one day!  Check out a few or all of the GoPro movies here…

The Other Side of the Bars

Mitch Chubey flippin and whippin!

This past weekend was the 18th annual John Henry Days,  where local Shore bike shop “John Henry the Bicycle Man” has a huge sale to kick off the new season!  For the past few years I have been a good friends with the majority of the staff at the shop and along with being friends with these guys comes them asking you to take part in shop events!  For the most part these events are awesome, they just like most things find away of turning into a lot of work for all of us involved.

Better late then never…

Mike, Dave and myself on our way to ride Bowen island for the day!

Mike, Dave and myself on our way to ride Bowen island for the day!

November was so crazy at work that I didn’t  ride much at all, with the exception of the odd street session on my way home from work.  October had been a great month of riding!   Started out  with a trip out to Bowen Island with my buddy Dave McInnes  to ride with  the rest of the Flowrider team, Dangerous Dan Cowan, and Mike Laudrum.  Dave and I made our way to Horseshoe Bay where Mike who is one of the Captins of the Sea taxi, picked us up for a fast rip over to the island from the main land.  When we got to Bowen Danger meet up with us and we headed straight up the mountain and dropped in!  As per usual it was an epic day of super steep GNARLY lines and thats just what is between all the man built stunts or features on the trails out that way. It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

I love riding my bike all the time,  but I especially love it in the fall!  It is the best weather and the trail conditions are prime!  I moved to North Van a few years ago simply for the riding,  I mean you can ride all year round here on “The Shore”.  If you like riding wet slick roots, then the shore in the winter or on a rainy fall day is the place to be!  The temp is just right so that you don’t over heat, and the cool air feels great on the lungs.   (continue reading…)

The FLOW is right!

bakertabe

7 am came way too soon, seems it was a Sunday morning! But it was the day of my favorite yearly Flow Show for the Coho Festival held at Ambelside park. This show is a smaller show but it is local, right on the waters edge, and has the a great view of Van city.

Not So Lazy Summer Days.

p70103731fx

I don’t know about your summer, but my summer has just blown by up to this point!   I have been doing some trail building,  some Flow Shows,  some filming, a few road trips, tons of riding and some work!  I have built up a couple of new Transitions with Raceface bling, started using wide bars and high top 5.10s’.

I Know It’s Summer When…….

Well I know it is summer when I seem to get busier without any intention of doing so.  I mean in the off season I have allot more time to relax and days were you have nothing to do really seem to happen weekly,  summer rolls in and WHAMMY!  It hits you like beers number 7&8 in an 8 pack! you have no days with nothing to do,  I am always hoping for a day where I can just do nothing but between work and biking……..  LOL!

So last week I Built my good friend and teammate Brett Tippies’ new 2009 Flatline pro for him and as payment he loaned me his 2008 Flatline so I could take my Dad out for his first dual suspension bike ride!  We rode here on the shore, (I like just dropping peps in the deep end and letting them sink or swim you know) over on Seymour and we did “Corkscrew”, to ” Neds’ Atomic Dust Bin”, and then up to “Bottle Top”!  this lap is one of my favs here on the shore cause you can really just open it up on that loop!  The old man did surprisingly well for a firsttimer,  maybe it runs in the family?

Now this weekend I am helping out down at “John Henry Days”  I am one of the coarse designers and there to just give back to the community as a senior rider and as a newwer rider here on the Shore.  So if yo ulive in the area come on down and cheack out the event big savings and some cool give aways!
