Breaker Breaker 09 in Vegas

On September 24th, Breaker Breaker ’09 went off. Raceface and Pinkbike teamed up to throw one badass party at a Las Vegas mansion.  The party was broadcast worldwide on Pinkbike.com and marked the world premiere of my movie What’s Next?

With Brett Tippie and Wade Simmons hosting, thousand of people across the world tuned in to check out the premiere.  The movie will soon be available on Pinkbike.com

Huge thanks to Julian here at Raceface for throwing such a killer party!

Great Weather Great Riding

So its fall and the sunny days are about to end in Vancouver. Dare I say the R word? I decided to make the most of it so I headed up to Whistler this past weekend to enjoy the last days of park riding. I really enjoy this time of year, as it seems like the perfect temperature for riding. And it even better when you can just do some casual runs with all your buddies. The Whistler bike park staff has been doing great work on the trails all season but with attendance tapering off towards the end of season it make for some great runs. There are only a few weekends left so if you can go enjoy the bike park.

Here, there and everywhere!

katiemexico

So unfortunately my shoulder injury has yet to totally heal…this thing has been dragging on forever. I have spent a bit of time on the bike here and there but for the most part I have just been keeping it real mellow. I want to give it adequate time to heal because the 2010 season is gonna be a big one and I need to be able to train properly.

I was starting to go nuts here in Whistler…so I decided it was time to get out for a little while. I packed my bag and headed down to Seattle to visit my mom, from there I went down to California and from there I went to Mexico and from there I went back to Seattle and from there I went to Vegas and from there I went to Seattle….and then home again! It was a good 2.5 weeks! (continue reading…)

Mt. Washington | Sept 2009

I’ve been riding Mt. Washington Alpine Resort for years now. Each season they’ve been stepping up their program with improved features, increased maintenance, and new trails. 2009 has been no exception. They’ve punched in a few new lines and among them is a trail full of berms, bridges, gaps, wallrides, drops, step-ups, and step-downs called “Back in Black”.

With some rain early in the week followed by warm sunny weather, Ken Perras & I determined that the conditions would be supreme. We loaded up early and made the trip up from Victoria. Despite the perfect tacky dirt and beautiful fall conditions enticing us to pound laps, we managed to make some time to snap a few photos on Back in Black.

Fun In The Loam

burke-41

Had a chance this weekend to get out with my buddies for some fun trail riding. Tim Brian and I headed over to Burke Mountain to revisit some of the trails. We climbed up to Triple Crown, then did Elevator, climbed back up the road and rode Sawblade. We then finished up doing the River Connector trail down to the River trail.

Crankworked!

This summer was one of my best summers period.

I spent the seemingly endless blue bird days riding one of the best new bikes for 2010, a Proto Rocky Mountain Flatline WC on various cool objectives. SOooo lucky. I again took my jumping and overall riding to the next level… Life was amazing!

Crankworx was ramping  up to be the highlight. I was in Whistler the week before coaching for Andrew Shandro and his Summer Gravity Camp, fun fun! I was going into Crankworx feeling fit, riding strong and jumping big. Crankworx if you have never been is always a good time, so many great people roll into town for a fun filled week of riding, competing, hanging and tons of socializing. It is kinda like the mid season gathering sandwiched between Sea Otter and Interbike!
