The Bicycle Cafe In August

justin-terwiel-2At this point in the season I have just one question on my mind, where did summer go? It seems like summer just stopped by to give me a high five, “sup Bro?” and then got outta town as quick as possible. I’m actually excited that summer is out of the way now but it really freaks me out thinking of how fast time is moving by. Soon fall will come with lots of cool weather and rain for us, so all the amazing riding will be restored.

This month was the most exciting one ever for me. After all of the filming and shooting I have been doing I got to see lots of results. I went down
to Whistler for to watch the Slopestyle and also to watch the world premier of What’ Next? It was my first full length video segment and it was very rewarding to see everything come together. I also got my first magazine cover shot when one of Dan Barhams photo’s of me and my friend Kelly Mcgarry got published on Big Bike France! After seeing myself in a movie and on a magazine I got really inspired to keep killing it this fall. After I got back from Whistler I got to team up with Ian Killick and we speant a day up at Sun Peaks shooting with Adam Stien. Adam’s a funny, funny dude and he does alot of the promotional photography for Sun Peaks that ends up on their websites, posters, advertisements etc., so that was an exciting project to get in on! Earlier in the month I got the chance to guest coach with Aggy in one of his Freeride Camps at Sun Peaks. We had a killer time with some really eager and fun kids and it left me very interested in the whole coaching gig.

Justin Terwiel killed it again this month. After slipping into a 38th out of 64 pro downhillers on one of the gnarliest courses ever in the Canadian Open at Crankworx Justin came home and speant some time coaching really small children. It is entertaining to see these 10 and under children shredding downhills and I think Justin loves seeing it more than anyone. Tidying up a killer race season Justin finished 20th at the Canada Cup race at Sunpeaks and that landed him a 4th place over-all finish in the BC Cup. Just to add a couple spinkles on top of a successful season Justin teamed up with Karl Heldt to film the 2nd of our promotional web-videos for Sun Peaks Resort. Another amazing job by karl can be seen here,

Everyone else has been keeping pace. Ace Hayden was in whistler for Crankworx to take on his first few big downhill races. Matt Miles finished 1st in his class at the Canada Cup at Sunpeaks and Luke Beers has been doing a lot of building in Merritt to ensure his buddy Kurt Sorge has a good NWD 10 segment. One of my favourite things about Kamloops is that the end of summer is no where near the end of the bike season. With a few months left to go and all the good conditions still to arrive, the best is yet to come.

Cheryl and Taylor are opting out of the Vegas trip for Interbike this year and sending me instead. I have never been to the city or the show so I am really excited! Hopefully we can arrange meetings to discuss plans and products for 2010, as well as meet those of you who I haven’t yet. Thanks again guys!
