Early Monday morning, as the dust was still settling from Crankworx, I found myself flying into the remote Coastal Mountains for one the most amazing bike trips of my life.
I was joining Chris Winter from Big Mountain Bike Adventures as a Tail Guide for an ultimate Bike Trip/Product Launch. He was flying 7 media publications, 2 heads from Specialized Product & Marketing and renown photographer Sterling Lorence deep into the South Chilcotins for one unbelievable Big Mountain experience that I was stoked and honoured to be apart of. No one knew of a product launch so epic, and the best part was…it was all girls!! (Well besides Chris and Sterling.)

It’s’ not a very big secret that I really enjoy riding my bike at Sun Peaks Resort. I can’t really think of anything that makes me happier than banging off lap after lap of high speed single track littered with jumps and steep rocks, only to hop back on the lift for more. Sun Peaks is close to home and everyone is a bro. I could go on for paragraphs, or I could show you the first installment of a a three part video series by Karl Heldt featuring myself and Jeremy Tenisch. Erip!

Alan is over on the island right now and we went out to do some shooting. Mike Zinger always gets something that gets me stoked.
Here is a photo from the shoot.

We wanted to build a pump track style trail, with tight corners and nice rollers which flowed through the terrain and made use of the natural features and contours. While following that line we started to find perfect rocks for step downs and sniper airs and soon our pump track style trail began to ride like a tight freeride trail. It still retained some of the initial pump track vision as you do not have to pedal and can pump rollers throughout the trail, even into and out of the corners. Here is the edit from a quick day of filming on the trail, which we named the Big Dirty for Ricky, Julian and Bubs

So this was my official 1st race of the season (2010). for me it was a training race. i was just coming off of a 3 week build in my training program, so i only had 1 reason to do this race: to get sharp. and thats it. nothing else. dont care about results, i wanna make sure my transitions were lighting fast as they have been in the past and get my race sharpness together….. this mountain bike duathlon consists of 2 mile trail run, 12 mile, 2lap bike course, 2 mile run. At this time of year in Vancouver you’ve got to take any opportunity you can to get out on your bike…
Saturday brought chilly temperatures, but bluebird skies – time for a ride.
We packed up the cars & headed up the Sea to Sky highway to the self proclaimed outdoor adventure capital of Canada – Squamish. The plan was to ride an XC loop in the morning, followed by a shuttle lap in the afternoon – the perfect opportunity to test out Race Face’s new SIXC carbon all mountain cranks & bar.
