This past weekend was the 18th annual John Henry Days,  where local Shore bike shop “John Henry the Bicycle Man” has a huge sale to kick off the new season!  For the past few years I have been a good friends with the majority of the staff at the shop and along with being friends with these guys comes them asking you to take part in shop events!  For the most part these events are awesome, they just like most things find away of turning into a lot of work for all of us involved.

Just returned from doing some announcing and interviews of the nsmb Airprentice riders and doing some laps on the stellar runs of Silver Star. (Thanks to Marshall Cant and Shawn from Olympia Bike Shop for fixing my bike.)
Andrew “Shrew” Sherry won. Super T opened beers with his spinning backtire with ease. I tagged Matt Hunters truck, “The Anger”. Funny moments with the Airprenti and great trails. More to come. (Had to beat Lorraine Blancher to the RF blog. ha ha Beat ya, buddy!!)

B.C.’s provincial XC championships were awarded on Sunday, June 28th at West Coast Racing’s Cardiac Classic presented by North Shore Bike Shop and Hansen Industries, but the day belonged to New Zealand’s Team N-Duro/CabinRacing.com. The Kiwi tandem of Mark Leishman in the Pro/Elite Men’s event, and Nic Leary in the Pro/Elite Women’s, matched each other with wins in the marquis events, overcoming a challenging course and local competitors.

Thomas Skinner riding for Oak Bay Bikes/Specialized and Joele Guynup representing the Island Racing Club vanquished the remaining contenders, earning the provincial champions’ jerseys. Lauren Rosser from the powerhouse junior development program of Team Squamish, and Sebastien Sleep of Rocky Mountain-Different Bikes took home the junior titles with virtuoso performances, easily distancing their respective fields.
