Why do you ride?…I Ride for Nicks’s Eyes.

We all have our reasons why we ride, but it is the riding that brings us together and creates a real bond. Our very good friend and fellow rider Nick Moore has been diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease that is causing him to go blind. Nick has insurance, but because this procedure is not yet approved by the FDA, Nick’s insurance will not cover it.  As we are all part of the same MTB community we want to help Nick raise the money to get this surgury done. RaceFace , along with a bunch of other concerned MTB companies have donated products for an Ebay auction, that is going on right now. The money raised will go to help Nick pay for this costly procedure. They are also selling some special t-shirts to help the cause as well. Any money raised over the amount needed for the surgury will go to start a foundation to help others facing the struggle that Nick is facing now. I challange all my fellow riders to support one of our own. Support Nick and lets show him that he is not alone in his fight.

Red Bull Rampage

Rampage is GNARLY!!

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get to Rampage. My first impression was how did they find this place??? It is seriously in the middle of nowhere. Didn’t even have cell service. ha. (continue reading…)

Supporting the Whip

Inspired by whip videos from The Coastal Crew and Ian Morrison, I really wanted to make one of my own. Whips are a neat move. Every rider has their individual style and no two whips look alike. I wanted to make mine fast paced and fast cut. Matty Miles was the man for the job. We spent two evenings filming whips on the same two jumps and then compressed it all into one 40 second edit. Usually my interest would fade filming the same thing for two days but whips just never get old…

Killing It

Sometimes I think it’s killing me. But more often I like to think I’m killing it.  Plans change as fast as the weather. One minute its raining and the next its shining. In either case its all good.  It’s hard to keep a balance between working, riding, and riding to promote myself. And it keeps getting harder. Especially since there are no definitive lines between the three. Working means not riding, but still promoting. Riding means riding, working and promoting. Promoting means working and riding. Working in a bike store, as a bike coach and being a rider certainly keeps me busy. It seems that I never have a full day off without some sort of project I need to work on. But then again I don’t have an office or a suit, so perhaps I have a lot of days off? I’m not complaining by any means. I’m extremely grateful to have a life filled with passion and aim. I’m also grateful for the opportunity to work on media projects with Sun Peaks Resort and Lone Wolf Productions. The kind of projects that help me fill in those definitive lines and remember how much I love doing what I do. Killing it.

Sun Peaks Resort Bike Park Video

It’s’ not a very big secret that I really enjoy riding my bike at Sun Peaks Resort. I can’t really think of anything that makes me happier than banging off lap after lap of high speed single track littered with jumps and steep rocks, only to hop back on the lift for more. Sun Peaks is close to home and everyone is a bro. I could go on for paragraphs, or I could show you the first installment of a a three part video series by Karl Heldt featuring myself and Jeremy Tenisch. Erip!

Big Dirty Trail edit

We wanted to build a pump track style trail, with tight corners and nice rollers which flowed through the terrain and made use of the natural features and contours. While following that line we started to find perfect rocks for step downs and sniper airs and soon our pump track style trail began to ride like a tight freeride trail. It still retained some of the initial pump track vision as you do not have to pedal and can pump rollers throughout the trail, even into and out of the corners. Here is the edit from a quick day of filming on the trail, which we named the Big Dirty for Ricky, Julian and Bubs

Enjoy,
