Riding Highs and Lows
I flew back to Canada in late June. In my first week back I met with the guys at Race Face, rode with the Camp of Champions in Whistler and made it to Vancouver Island to hang out with the guys at Straitline.
Once I got back to Fernie I got my Wildcard built up with parts I smuggled over from Taiwan. It was going to be my back up bike for the summer but after a couple of rides on it I was not sure I would be able to put it second.

Once I had my Scythe finished it was not hard to put my Wildcard into the basement. Just based on the look of my Scythe I was in love. After my first ride on my new bike I was hooked. After the first couple of rides my face was sore from the permanent smile I had while riding.

Roller Coaster!
As far as racing goes, its been up and down. After the high of Pan Ams, I have definitely struggled with my season. I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well (because I know I can) and I think that in a lot of ways I kind of lost touch with the actual journey. World Cups are hard, its tough going to a different place every week and learning the most difficult of tracks in one day. There are a lot of fast riders, lots of spectators and everything is just on a whole other level. I learned so much though and I am definitely a much stronger rider because of it all. It’s not like I didn’t have fun because I loved it, its just hard…thats all I can say to explain it!
This past week I have been back home in Whistler coaching for Camp of Champions and I have had an absolute blast. We all ride bikes for a reason and I think that my week with Camp of Champions showed me what I so easily lost touch of. I just had so much fun riding my bike…not that I don’t have fun riding my bike at races because I love races…something was just missing and I feel like I found it. I was riding confidently and riding good because I was having so much fun. I feel like a new rider after this past week!

Kick off of the ’10 Season

So after a fairly successful hockey season and an early exit from playoffs I started switching over to bike mode and training for the upcoming season. Our new bikes from Banshee came in soon after and did they ever look nice! My dad and I quickly scrambled and threw together the 4 legends and my spitfire that myself and my teammates were going to race on down at the Sea Otter Classic in the DH and Super D classes respectively. Once they were built and looking sharp we loaded them up into the truck and started on our gruelling 25 hour drive from Calgary to Monterey. We chose to drive this year to save on airline bike costs and also to be able to take all the tools, parts and other spare items that we would need. After a fairly uneventful drive down we pulled into Laguna Seca and went about setting up our joined pit with Banshee, Team Geronimo and ourselves.

Recent Riding
With the spring season in full swing it is finally time when people get out on their bikes again. Long gone are the days of snow on the trails. Well maybe.
Recently Brett Tippie and I headed out on an adventure and agreed to each write a small piece about what the ride was like to compare our adventure. We bore witness to “Thunderpow” and big flakes… basically we were skiing! (continue reading…)

Crankworked!
This summer was one of my best summers period.
I spent the seemingly endless blue bird days riding one of the best new bikes for 2010, a Proto Rocky Mountain Flatline WC on various cool objectives. SOooo lucky. I again took my jumping and overall riding to the next level… Life was amazing!
Crankworx was ramping up to be the highlight. I was in Whistler the week before coaching for Andrew Shandro and his Summer Gravity Camp, fun fun! I was going into Crankworx feeling fit, riding strong and jumping big. Crankworx if you have never been is always a good time, so many great people roll into town for a fun filled week of riding, competing, hanging and tons of socializing. It is kinda like the mid season gathering sandwiched between Sea Otter and Interbike!

Good Bye Summer, hello Spring!
Just rolled back home to Revy after an amazing month in Cali. It started off by hitting a 30 foot creek gap on the way to Sea Otter to checking out the Post Office Jump Jam in sweltering heat, doing a bunch of shuttle days on the classics runs in Santa Cruz, being taken to secret DJs and Slalom Tracks, coaching a few Dirt Series Mountain Bike Camps, getting some great beach time all along the coast, two amazing rest days in Big Sur, riding the local goods in Laguna Beach and shuttling Tunnel and Cold Springs in Santa Barbara the morning their BIG fire started! Crazy! I miss the super hot days, fresh fruit and dry dusty trails but can’t wait as soon enough summer will be full on here…Bring it ON!
